Thrift Haul

There's something about thrifting.

I was raised on secondhand shops, and often went on long Saturday van rides with my mother and grandparents to peruse the best thrift stores and flea markets in our area. Thrifting is just magical; there's really no telling what you might find! This morning I decided to set out on an impromptu thrift store excursion, and here is what I bought:

Cost: $1
AKA THE PURCHASE OF THE DAY
I always comb through the oversized black T-shirts in the men's department on the off-chance of scoring a sweet vintage band tee. It's rarely happened, but today I was amazed to find this (super massive) Pink Floyd shirt! If you saw my last post, you might remember that my sister was wearing a rad Dark Side of the Moon tee. #jealous Now I have my own Pink Floyd shirt...and it's vintage. GAH Any ideas on how to style an oversized band tee? I might have to make it into a dress.

Cost: $5
Speaking of dresses, this little plaid number was too sassy for me to pass up. Although it looks kind of like a picnic blanket, I loved its little straps and structured bodice. It can be preppy or punky, and I love that versatility. I may have overspent on this item, but I think it has potential.

Cost: $2
Finally, I'd been looking for a bag with a chain strap, so I was pleased to find this plum purse at a great price. This photo doesn't do the bag's rich color any justice; the purple is actually rather vibrant. I think I'll pair it with jeans and a striped tee or a simple black dress so it stands out.

Total Time Spent: About 2 hours
Total Money Spent: About $8.55, including tax
Total U-Turns Made: 3

+ What about you? Have any thrifting luck lately?
What is your favorite item in this post, and how would you wear it?

  1. I love your haul! Those items have all such a great style (how fab is that dress?!?) and you're such a lucky one with the pink floyd shirt! :D When I visited THE music festival back in summer, I saw a lot of girls wearing oversized bandshirts together with ripped tights and Docs but I think the shirt would also look great with skinny jeans and some pointed ballet flats or something :)

    1. Thank you! ^_^ The tights and Docs idea sounds rad! And so does the skinny jean/band tee look. I dig it! Also, that's so cool that you went to a music festival! I've never been :D

  2. I LOVE THAT DRESS. Like, sooo much. I have this thing where in order to style something or put together an outfit, I actually physically have to put it on my body and experiment that way, but I'm guessing I'd keep it simple and do flats and a simple necklace. Maybe a floppy hat if that's your thing? The dress is so perfect I'd want to let it speak for itself...idk!!

For the shirt, if it's really too big you could always take it in a little bit, if you have a sewing machine! I don't sew but I don't think that would be too hard... thoughts!

    Love this post. :)

    1. Isn't it crazy awesome? I love it too ^_^ I have to do that sometimes, too. Like the outfit doesn't look the same on as I thought it would and then I have to restyle it lol GAH THE PAINS OF FASHION

Yeah, I may keep the dress simple. It's pretty loud on its own :) And my sister is going to help me cut the shirt down into a tank top!

    1. I'm glad you like the finds! ^_^ I'm never sure if the stuff I buy is legit cute or not. Thrift store buying can be iffy at times! But I agree, it is the best finding treasures at such low prices ^_^ And thanks for the compliment on my blog design! I love designing, and I wanted something minimalistic. But yeah, seriously, that was such a sweet thing to say so thanks!
